Two Charged with Fraud, Money Laundering and False Accounting Offences

Two Spanish nationals are set to appear before the Magistrates’ Court tomorrow
morning (31st January) following charges related to fraud and money laundering
offences.
Their arrests came after a long and complex investigation by detectives from the
Royal Gibraltar Police’s Economic Crime Unit.
David Nevado Luna of Estepona, Spain, and Francisco Cuadrado Gonzalez of
Casares, Spain, both directors of the locally registered company Victoria
Construction Ltd, were arrested in February 2024 on suspicion of Fraud by False
representation.
The allegations relate to the under-declaration of corporate and personal tax
liabilities.
Following the investigation, both individuals were charged and the company was
summoned to court as follows:
David Nevado Luna
Two counts of Fraud by False representation relating to the under-declaration
of his personal tax liability.
One count of Possession of Criminal Property in connection with the
possession of £77,223.79, believed to be the benefit obtained from under-
declaring income to the Income Tax Office.
Francisco Cuadrado Gonzalez
Four counts of Fraud by False Representation, relating to the under-
declaration of his personal tax liability.
One count of Possession of Criminal Property in connection with the
possession of £120,012.28, believed to be the benefit obtained from under-
declaring income to the Income Tax Office.
Victoria Construction Ltd
The company itself has been summoned to appear before the Magistrates’ Court to
answer the following charges:
False Accounting, relating to the dishonest submission of corporate tax
returns to the Income Tax Office. Specifically:
The tax return for 2018/19 falsely declared a turnover of £385,050 and
expenses of £428,713.
The tax return for 2019/20 falsely declared a turnover of £364,800 and
expenses of £358,151.
Possession of criminal property, specifically funds amounting to £173,574.25.
Both individuals and the company will appear before the Magistrates’ Court at 10am
tomorrow, where Luna and Gonzalez will also be appearing as directors of Victoria
Construction Ltd.
